Not just any weekend, we're talking 4-Day Bay-Bay.

So uh, yeah I skipped work on Friday, and did nothing but catch up on ROH tapes, continue the CD ripping project (I'm currently in the process of ripping all of my CDs onto my hard drive. It's taking a while because I have a lot of CDs. After three hours on Thursday and most of a workday of Friday, I've ripped up through LL Cool J, not counting ones that are out in the 60 pack I keep in my car) , and sit on my butt feeling sickly. Then Sara came over, she made some dinner and as we sat down to watch a movie we got a phone call to go out for some drinks. We were going out for drinks because Friday was the beginning of Sara and her roommate's Spring Breaks (They're both teachers but at different High Schools.) So we meet Nifer out for drinks and have two a piece and then go back home. (Early night because Nifer is leaving at 4:30am to fly to Florida) So we get home and watch Thirteen. It's a good movie for a 13 year old to have written, but just pretty average in the realm of movies.

Saturday Sara wakes up to go to Yoga and to clean up her house, I straighten up the house and rip some more CD's (up through N.E.R.D) Then it is off to my Dad's house. I bring a boat load of laundry. And I get all excited about sitting out on my Dad's deck, since the weather is awesome. Sara and I run out to Dollar General and to Fagen's for booze while Dad finishes his nap, and we wonder where Lynda & Chuck are with the girls. We come back and Dad joins us to hang out outside for the evening. We cook some Country Style Ribs on the grill for dinner and all is good.

Sunday Dad and I run to the store to pick up some supplies for me to make a big ole breakfast on a griddle my Dad has never used. Then more hanging out outside. This time Lynda & Chuck are over with my neices. Rachels all grown up and ornery now. She's talkative and goes whereever she wants now. Terrible Twos baby. Chuck helps Dad in his Garage finishing project. It's Sunday in Indiana so there are no liquor sales, and of course Dad never plans ahead, so I get sent to the Ill. State Line to by a case of beer since he forgot and the garage workers ran out of beers. (Just cause I hadn't drank any yet, I get stuck going, even though I planned ahead) Sara and I spend most of the rest of the day hanging with Deanna. Most of that consisting of making crayons in the Crayola Crayon Maker (Best. Toy. Ever. also the best idea ever for getting rid of tiny crayon leftovers and broken crayons) I ruin some hamburgers on the grill (don't ask, and only two were ruined.) Lynda get's sick so she takes Chuck and the girls and go home. 3 rounds of showers later, Dad, Sara, and I enjoy 2 episodes of Chapelle's Show and Dad falls asleep and starts snoring, so I run downstairs to get some Jewel boxes for the CD's that I know that MusicMatch won't know the tracklists for. And take them to Dad's computer room to start on Word to type them all out. Sara's a genius and remembers that Dad has a scanner (Why I don't know he doesn't even use the computer at all, he has email and doesn't check it, probably because his internet hookup is ghetto.) Then we notice it's not only a scanner and a printer, but also a copier. So I just copy the jewel cases that I'm sure I'll need tracklists from, and it was super fast and then it's off to bed.

Monday, we get up and pack up pretty early and head out of there and we're in Chicago right around noon. Sara runs home to shower up and get resettled back in, while I put away all my laundry and Dollar General stuff. She comes back over and Bring It On is on. I LOVE that movie so we watch it and eat some salads, while I keep ripping CDs (I'm up to Pet Shop Boys.) We then get invited to her sisters house for a "Hey it's nice out lets have a dinner" dinner. So I set the VCR for Raw, and we head up that way. Traffic as usual when going to her sister's during rush hour-y busy times is deceptively nice. It's always perfectly fine until you are 2-3 exits from her house, then it crawls from there on. And all the roads around the exits are crappy and crawly then too, so just when you've made great time, traffic flow dies and you ride the brake for a 20 minute mile. Dinner was Beef & Broccoli that was delightful with Mini Eggrolls to start, an Artichoke pre-appitizer, and Angel Food Cake with Strawberries and Whipped Cream for dessert, Delightful all of it.

RAW: We make it home in time to see Ric Flair prepping HHH for the Shelton Match. I'm afraid to watch the rest of the Raw tape, because there is no way anything is as good as that match was. Lots of people are relating it to Flair/Sting and I tend to agree. It was awesome and awesome, and it also had a touch of awesome. Triple H pinned cleanly in the center of the ring, again. OH HELL YEAH, Bring it on, It was fantastic and it was even made better by the fact that Sara watched it with me and didn't even seem to mind too much. Did I mention it was awesome awesome and awesome, well in case I haven't let me just say it was awesome.

Birthday talks.

Well as you know yesterday was Sara's birthday. So we start off the evening running to Evanston Liquors. The restaurant was BYOB so we were picking her up a bottle of wine. As we were there I noticed they, while having a much smaller beer selection, had a much larger cider and malt beverage (Smirnoffs, etc.) selection than Binny's. They had all 3 kinds of Cider Jack, All the Woodchucks, but the biggest find was the Ace Ciders. I've heard many great things of Ace Pear Cider, but have never found it. So I picked one up, warm (plus I don't know about bringing beer/cider into a fancy Italian restaurant) and it's waiting for me in my fridge. Heather & Nifer are going to be very excited to find out we have a place to get it. I'm not sure if they had Strongbow or not, so I don't know if I have a new place for ALL my cider needs or not yet.
The place we went to for dinner was very nice. It's pretty much right in front of my condo building. As we were walking over David Lulkin and his aunt came out and said they liked the place, and that they think we'd enjoy it. I had Pasta Proscutto (I never know how to spell that) and a Caprese Salad. Sara had Spinach Lasagne and a Tomato-Cucumber Salad and we also got Bruschetta. During dinner we had a first in-depth discussion about moving buying a place together in the fall. It had been hinted at and brought up as an option. Her lease is up this fall and she want's to buy. My condo isn't exactly a superstar place (20 x 30 box). We realize that we can get something better if we go together. But it's just a really scary, growing up, getting extremely serious thought. It all makes total sense, and is good from a financial aspect; except I realize that major major problems would arise if there was ever a break-up. It's all very sobering.
Then we came home and watched Queer Eye as per usual Tuesday night..

Hey another post about the weekend, how novel of me.

Well after a Friday at work, spent more paying attention to the tournament than working, I went home to watch basketball. I partook in Wisconsin's opening game in the tournament. It was fun and Eternachat is fun when everyone is watching basketball. I then watched Matchstick Men when Sara came home from taking pictures at school. The movie was good, I wasn't really trying to figure anything out, but more just watching it, thus the ending was cool to me. ( I had the ending written there, but deleted it in favor of saving you spoilers)
Saturday I took my car for it's emissions test and it failed. They didn't even test it, since the Check Engine Light was on it got an automatic fail. The light has been on for like over a year. So I guess I'm going to have to get that finally fixed. I then met up with a guy that works for/helps run Pro Championship Wrestling (PCW). We were trading tapes I gave him 28 tapes (like 32 shows or somthing) in trade for 10 tapes and some cash. I wanted to go to their show that night since Bobby Heenan was there. I couldn't because the rest of the day was spent at Sara's parents house while Sara did laundry, in anticipation for Sara's parents and siblings birthday dinner. In between laundry loads we did some running around. I let her know I wanted to help her get a digital camera for her birthday as well as the watch I already got her. She wasn't to keen on it because she thinks it's too much though. We'll figure something out. For her birthday, she got some vases, a scarf, and will be getting a cover for the back of her Jeep, so when the top is down you can still have things back there without worrying of them flying out. We also decided that her sibling dinner will be at Cheesecake Factory, followed by going up to the bar on the 95th floor of the Hancock building. I've never been up there, but I hear it's fancy, but who cares, it's all about the view if we go up there.
Sunday we went grocery shopping then I watched more basketball while she napped. Then we made a pretty big dinner and Sopranos. I tried to get her to tell me where she wanted me to take her for her birthday dinner. She said I could take her to the new Italian place right next to the house. I was thinking I'd probably take her there anyway, so that'll probably be where we go. There or Star of Siam.

OK so I was wrong.

All it took was a couple more people turning in brackets this morning, and some smack talking about picks, to make my apathy towards the tournament turn to jubilee and fun.

Yay for March, WrestleMania and the tournament.

Whoopdie Doo

Much rambling, and incoherent thoughts that will have many loose pieces that don't connect will be here in this entry. Basically meaning it'll be a usual entry, but I still thought I should preface this. Plus what I'm doing for this post lends itself to these sort of unconnected thoughts that I'm preparing you, my dear readers, (all two of you) for.

So uhh yeah, I sit here and I am just going to write the random thoughts that come out of my fingers. Since most of my posts are long you should know by now that that is how I write anyway. I'm a very conversational writer, I write as how I talk, and yes I do speak in many parentheticals (since, as is obvious, if you read me, I use often (usually incorrectly).) Could this me forcing myself to do some content for my blog? Could this be that I don't want to do anything at work, and I've done all the bracketing I can...

Speaking of bracketing, I'm very terribly disinterested in the tournament this year. It could be the lack of Purdue, but probably not because I've had no hopes of them doing anything in said tourney for many years prior. My interest in sports (other than wrestling, and that has actually as well) has waned quite a bit in many years. The whole Cubs thing last year non-withstanding. Granted I'm not fairweather by any means, I'm diehard and bleed Blue and Red. But there's quite a bit to be said for the difference between being happy win you hear the Cubs win, like any season; and a season where next year actually could be there, and you are left dizzy, and paralyzed motionless on the couch, jaw agape, as this year is quickly becoming the same as any other year in the span of 11 innings (Starting with Alex Gonzalez' error, I still refuse to place the blame OFF the field with Bartman.)

Seriously why have I never shown any interest in finding a better job where I'd probably do less work at a better salary. I will say I'm probably doing pretty well compared to most 27 year olds, but I am in a rut so young. This is my first job out of college and I've been here 5 and a half years (and 14 days.) Within 4 months of being here I already held the highest position available here in this small company for accounting and have been stagnant ever since. There is much to be said for the fact that I'm at a place where I can wear Khakis and polos every day, can get away with spending the majority of my day on the internet (some days honestly doing nothing but), and I make salary plus overtime. But I haven't grown any here in at least 3 years, and it's been the same things perpetually since. My pay hasn't increased with my complete revamping of their accounting here, and the fact that everything is done correctly as opposed to being a complete and total guess work operation before. Plus the mortgage industry will be crashing dead some time soon, and I'd kind of not like to be a victim of it.

Yeah, my enthusiasm for wrestling is waning. I still Love Love Love going to IWA shows every month, and I'll continue to do so. I still continue to watch on Monday and Thursday nights, because it's there and it's free and I enjoy chatting with the ITVR guys. But going out and searching for good wrestling doesn't interest me anymore. If I know something is good and it's readily available, I'll still check it out, but no longer is the days where I'll trade for a bunch of tapes just to try something new out. No longer am I actively going to search for any trades actually. I'll still download stuff off the internet, and I'll still get stuff everyonce in a while (Like my IWA-MS Best of 2003 DVDs that came in today) But actively searching has become a non-entity for me. Basically unless it's something I really want to see, I'm not looking for trades, I'm letting them come to me. Speaking of which Orgy, if you read this, what were you looking to get.

Much like music. I used to be all about finding and enjoying new music. But my old man nature has allowed me to be settled in and I just stick to the stuff I dig now. I'm not actively searching for new stuff I like. If I come across something I enjoy, I'm not going to shut it out, but I have no desire to search for it.

Yeah, I'm going to end this now, because I haven't said anything yet and I'm probably not going to get anything said by continuing on.

The weekend, there was quite a bit of awesomeness.

This was a very fun weekend, oh yes it was. Let's take a small journey back through it, hopefully this journal will be just as fun as the weekend was.

Friday night, Sara and I start watching Wonderland the story of the John Holmes murders, or so I thought. I accidentally rented the wrong Wonderland from Netflix, so this was some British indy flick that was stupid. No offense to British films or indy films, just this one was pretty bad. So we watched Emporer's New Groove instead. That was hilarious, and casting Putty as the voice of the dumb galoot was perfect casting. Especially since I seriously have a problem of giggling at anything he says anyway. Needless to say it was a movie filled with laughs and yes even the Ken guffaw came out as well.
The movie was only a time filler though as the main event of the night was the viewing of The Kissers at Nevin's. The Kissers are one of Sara's favorite bands from up in Madison (Wisc. She's a badger, for those that don't know.) They are Irish rock very similar in style to The Pogues. They put on a very fine performance, unfortunately it was only in front of about 30-40 people, but all of them were appreciative. It was there first time in the area here though, so that's understandable. They did most of their regular show Sara said. I've seen a stripped down version of the band once, but have never seen the whole band, they are a Septet (Lead Guitar/Banjo, Singer/Rhythm Guitar, Bass, Fiddle, Mandolin, Drums, and a young looking lad that alternated between Keyboards, Accordion and Irish Flute. They did mostly originals as well as a couple Pogues and Johnny Cash covers. All in all it was a great show and I have two of their CD’s on SLSK. If like me you enjoy the Irish Rock/Irish Punk go get them. I’m on there now, you should know my name, go get it.

Saturday, while Sara is off at Yoga, I start off the day buy burning Sara and myself St. Patrick’s day mixes of Flogging Molly, The Kissers, and The Pogues with some House of Pain and a couple other little fun bits thrown in there. Then I wrap the presents that I bought for my friends Jen and Dave’s twin daughters that are having their second birthday party that afternoon. The party was fun the girls were cute, I haven’t seen any of them in a year so it was good to see them. Poor Claudia had 3 stitches on her forehead from a spill she took earlier in the week, poor little thing.
Then we left there to go to Sara’s brother’s house. They were having a house warming party (even though they’ve lived there for a year.) The party doubled as a St. Patrick’s Day party as well. Good times were had by all including their parents that were there until like after 1am. Late night for them. I had a plethora of Strongbows. We were staying there so Sara also had her fair share of Harp.

Sunday we wake up and have some waffles chat with Keith and Mike for a while then head home to shower up to head over to John’s for WrestleMania XX. I get there and find out they made 5 slabs of ribs and have a couple full Nacho Platters set up there. So needless to say this starts off as one of the best Wrestlemanias ever, at least the best food of one I’ve been to . We watched the tournament selection show, and to anyone who didn’t believe the Big Ten had an off year, we had only 3 teams make it, and the highest seed we have is a 5. The Big Ten had a shit year, face it. I’m a fan of the Big Ten too, but your fanboyism should be set aside to realize we had an off year. (Sorry not to go off on whiners that I’ve been hearing about lately) I guess I should be happy because Chicago is really well represented with DePaul and UIC but ya know what, No I’m not. We watched the show with a couple of non-regular watchers so there was the “That looks so fake” but there was also a few “Holy Shit”s as well as a “I can’t stand that bitch Trish, for what she did to that Chris Jericho” of course that was twenty minutes after “How can you watch this soap opera shit” So they did a good job of drawing her into the story. As for the show itself:

-Shane’s kid was a really nice touch on the it all begins again theme. There needs to be some sort of Emmy given to the people in the WWE that do the opening of the show montages.
-Cena’s face raps still suck, but my wondering of when the four finger rings would get used as a weapon is now over.
-Raw Tag was as pointless as the fact that they think the belts matter
-Christian with the Trish heel turn, I should have seen this from weeks away, but I didn’t think of it until she came to ringside. That makes it exponentially better than it already was and it already was really cool. I will now admit that Jericho will probably stay a face now. He won’t eventually turn heel, like I thought he would for the past month or two.
-For being the match that is supposed to give Orton the rub from Foley, this sure was the Rock and Ric show. And going in, I never really thought of the greatness that would exude from a Rock/Ric situation. After seeing it, all I can say is I want more Rock vs. Ric. Damn you Hollywood, for stealing my Rock. All Wrestling fans should boycott Walking Tall so it is a flop and Rock will have to come running back to WWE with his tail between his legs, and we wrestling dorks can reap the benefits.
-Hall of Fame Class of 2004, I legit teared up when they showed Bobby getting his plaque and he said he wished Gorilla could be there. I also just legit teared up typing that up as well.
-Hey look there is T&A in the ring. Jackie, the one that wanted to be in Playboy, doesn’t want to take off her dress. Oh, I’m sorry why am I thinking there would be logic in a T&A match? The marks we watched the show with enjoyed it, so, it did what it was supposed to do.
-Cruiserweight open. So Akio is still in this match right? Poor other guy in Tajiri’s stable that is so unused, I don’t even know the dumb name the WWE gave him, not being able to be in it. Kidman’s head meet Nunzio’s shoulder, OUCH!!! “Hey Funaki we like you better than that guy that we pretend is Japanese, that really isn’t that Ken doesn’t know the name of, here we’ll give you seven seconds in there, thanks for coming. On your way out could you tell Paul London and Billy Gunn and Orlando Jordan to stop hanging out in the hallway when there is a camera there for Eddie to walk to Benoit’s dressing room. It’s bad enough Rock made us pay Hurricane and Rosey to be there so he can use his Hamburglar joke again. Now we have to pay you less than we were, but thanks for those seven seconds…Really”
-DJC and Lening were so correct in saying the match was really Goldberg & Lesnar vs. The Crowd. They were also right in saying The Crowd squashed the big galoots in mighty fine fashion. Brock flipping off the fans was completely flat out AWESOME though.
-Vinnie that was really nice of you to thank the crowd, and I sincerely believe that you mean it, how come everytime you do something like that it comes off as smarmy and ego stroking. It’s a shame because I really believe you meant it.
-Did you really give Jake & the Fatman the Tag Belts and have them retain them, Just so they can dance. I mean if your girls that are supposed to be hot can’t even dance when they are supposed to, how in the hell do you think this fat samoan and this white guy in his late thirties can.
-Jesse are you really going to run for president? If you are, your politics are much more appealing to me than the fact that you were a wrestler is. AND I’M A WRESTLING DORK. So I ask you PLEASE PLEASE don’t use “We need a wrestler in the White House” as your campaign slogan if you do run, Thank You, Ken Dreiling.
-Molly is a fucking trooper and if she doesn’t get a major payday for doing that I will be sad. (even if it was done just because she wanted a shorter hairstyle). I am sad that the chick matches that used to be awesome have been a little less than awesome the past couple weeks. I can’t put my finger on why exactly, but the finish to this match is a start.
-Eddie and Kurt are awesome I like when they wrestle it makes me happy.
-Paul Bearer, awesome; Druids, awesome; Old music, awesome; The fact that Taker has the same hairstyle I’m looking to have in a few weeks, awesome; The fact that he apparently is now the third member of The Smoking Guns, NOT awesome; Kane saying I buried you a lot, awesome; Kane saying UT wasn’t real, awesome; Kane reaching out to feel undertaker, awesome; it all goes down hill from there. I will say that everyone that was worried about the no selling dead man zombie Undertaker returning, should breathe some sign of relief. Apparently Kane no matter how many times he tries, just isn’t going to get UT to pass that torch to him 
-Shawn blading right before the catapult was NICE. Chris Benoit was is a good wrestler, I enjoy watching him in a professional wrestling match. This was an interesting little match, as I don’t want to sound like your usual HHH hater here but, I kind of have to. HHH came out here to work. He was looking to make people look good. (OK I Don’t sound too much like one, but I have a point to make.) He had his wrestling boots on. He wanted to have a great match with the two of those guys. It’s such a shame he just couldn’t work like he used to. This wasn’t lazy HHH not putting over people, I mean look at the finish (MARK OUT.) It’s just simply a case that HHH is a very good wrestler, but he is not great any more. Which is a shame because 3-4 years ago, he was arguably the best one around. But us wrestling dorks had one extremely large orgasm as not only did HHH tap to the vanilla midget, but a minute later Eddie and Benoit are in the ring together, both as the world champions of their respective divisions. It’s an awesome time to love the professional wrestling.

I then drove home and went to bed. I drove to work this morning, putzed around a bit and here I am. I haven’t quite touched work yet, and I think it’ll be a while. Because it’s time to play with brackets, and see if any of the chicks here want to do a pool. We have 4 guys here that are down, but the rest of the office is ladies, so I rarely get a good office pool, but some of them had fun with the Super Bowl Squares, so who knows, we might get some (old school under)takers.

Blah Blah Blah

Nothing Special going on. Sunday did the big write up that is below this, then did some shopping, then settled in to Soprano's and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Yesterday was Work and then RawChat

Today is work. Bringing home some Thai food from down here by the office, and spending the evening watching a movie and Queer Eye with Sara.

I took this, I'm very much a George, this clinched it

What Seinfeld character are you?

George Costanza

You are Jerry's best friend - even though you are neurotic and slow-witted, he keeps you around to have a 'loser of the group'. Life has a funny way of screwing you over at every turn, and your parents are psychotic. And no matter what you do, you'll never compare to Lloyd Braun.

EIGHT FINGERS YAAAAAAAY!!!!

IWA-MS and RCW combined on Saturday, March 6th 2004 to bring a double header of wrestling action. I had all day free with nothing to do so I went to enjoy some wrestlefight. The first show is Misfortune a show by Revolution Championship Wrestling (RCW) at 1pm in LaSalle, IL. So I make the 108.6 mile (Thank you Yahoo! Maps) journey out to LaSalle. As per usual in these write ups I take someone else’s results and throw my thoughts afterwards. This time I’m using Al Lagattolla’s results from chicagowrestling.com .
MATCH 1: Spyder Nate Webb beat Jason Allen and Matt Sydal in a three-way match. Matt Sydal was working both shows in the double header, but Nate Webb was working a show in between the double header so he was pulling triple duty. There is an extremely low ceiling in the banquet halls that RCW runs so Nate wasn’t able to do all the top rope flipping that usually is part of his entrance. So instead he got all the wrestlers to dance to ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ with him (all 3 are faces,) then the ring announcer, and eventually the referee. It was a quick little match to determine the #1 contender. Nothing to write home about, nothing offensive either.
MATCH 2: Alternative champion Danny Daniels successfully defended against Mike Matthews. Matthews is still a little young and it showed. Daniels covered as much as possible and showed why he is the best heel in the Midwest right now. He recently had ear surgery and is wearing headgear and working it to his Angle-esque best. These last two matches were this early on the card because Danny Daniels was driving Nate to the middle show. I haven’t seen results for that show yet so he might have been on that card too and been pulling triple duty, but I’m not sure.
MATCH 3: Sheik Shawn Daivari beat Cru Jones (with Eryn). Sheik really seems to be enjoying playing the role as recently turned face Muslim as he did a great job of playing up the crowd. They built much of the match as Eryn trying to keep Daivari from hitting his top rope maneuvers. The match ended with Diaviari hitting his ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ (top rope splash with his magic carpet) after kicking off Eryn who was trying to knock him off (she took a hard bump in the process.) She seemed to be having trouble walking because her thigh high vinyl boots seemed to have 9 inch heels at least. But the matching vinyl hot pants-tiny shirt combo made it all worth it.
MATCH 4: ODB and Rain beat Lacey and Daizee Haze: I still am not much of a Daizee Haze fan, but she definitely seems to be improving. ODB & Rain won after Daizee accidentally hit Lacey.
MATCH 5: Vanilla Shakes won (and lost) a four-way tag match involving Brandon and Sal Thomaselli (with Iggy), XXXPlicit Content (with Mia Martinez) and Ryan Boz and Colt Cabana: Very fun match with lots of old school 80’s spots, including Danny Scott of XXXPlicit Content doing the stomp all the way around the body spot. There was also a spot with 4 airplane spins in the ring at once. Cabana was loving being in the ring again, and responded to the welcome back chants with “Hey I just love to wrestle.” It was an interesting set up to the match as you were allowed to tag in anyone but your partner. There were two face teams (Boz/Cabana and XXXPC) and two heel teams (Thomasellis and Shakes) so with the rules it usually ended up with faces tagging the other face team and the heels doing the same. It worked well for the flow of the match that was good work mixed in with quality comedy spots.
At this point they took an intermission. I omitted telling you at the beginning of the report that half of the banquet hall was already set up for a wedding reception later that day. Well during the intermission guest for the reception started showing up. By the end of the show the reception area was full, and the wedding party was hiding out watching the show waiting for it to end to start their reception. They mostly seemed to be enjoying the show. Now the guests didn’t seem as happy, except this group of ladies that looked around in their seventies. They seemed to be perfectly happy looking at the handsome young me.
MATCH 6: Eric Priest beat Lenny Lane: Lenny Lane was flat out terrible in the ring, although he still looks huge. Priest won with a handful of tights.
MATCH 7: Eric Marx and Stryc-9 beat Danny McKay and Derek St. Holmes (with Josh Castilli): This wasn’t much of a match either. St Holmes book was used (and destroyed) in the finish.
MATCH 8: Egotistico Fantastico beat Delirious in a matchup of masked wrestlers: Very good match. Delirious yells that I caught included Mr. Belvedere and a little ditty about a hamburger.
MATCH 9: "Airborne" Vito Thomaselli (with Sal and Brandon Thomaselli and Iggy) beat Austin Aries to remain RCW champion: Solid hard hitting stiff match to end the show.
It was a solid show, a few sub par matches but nothing was terrible. Nothing extremely stood out though either. The four way tag was probably the match that will be remembered easiest.

Three hours of wrestling down. It’s about 4:15p and the IWA-MS show is at 7:30p. So off I go for the 93.4 mile trip over to Highland, Indiana for the IWA-MS show. They always say you never know whom to expect at an IWA show. There was only one surprise tonight, but for me, it was all the surprise that was needed.

IWA MIDSOUTH
MATCH 1: Emil Sitoci beat Cru Jones, Trik Davis and Frankie The Face: This is a match between four guys that are working their way up the undercards of IWA. Trik was in this match because Cash Flo apparently got injured. It was a decent match to start off the show. Cru Jones was a heel in RCW, but played a face here, this would be a theme for the night as it was a touch confusing when you saw someone play face in the first show and heel later that day, it’d be even more confusing during the ladies match
MATCH 2: M-Dogg 20 and Josh Prohibition beat Vito and Sal Thomaselli, the Iron Saints: I’ll say right now, I hate Josh Prohibition. He is sloppy, mugs for the camera and just flat out sucks. I have no beef with M-Dogg and I really dig the Thomasellis. This was a decent match when Josh wasn’t involved. Ian looks to be having a good team brought in and showed off on these shows in anticipation for their Tag Title Tournament on May 29.
MATCH 3: Tracey Smothers beat Conrad Kennedy III: CK3 came out and started talking trash about highspotkateers (TM Raven) and deathmatchers and instantly goes from heel to face in my book. He goes on to brag about being trained by NWA people and asks which IWA deathmatch loser or spot monkey he has to face. They pause for a while to make you wonder and then ‘If the South Would have Won’ by Hank Jr. came on and I LOST MY SHIT. Then I was embarrassed because since this was Tracy Smothers’ first appearance in Highland hardly anyone else knew who it was and I was on my feet LOSING MY SHIT. But then Tracy came out of the door and everyone else joined me in collectively LOSING THEIR SHIT. Great old school match that went long (theme for the night)
MATCH 4: Ryan Boz (with Jim Fannin) beat Road Dogg BG James: Road Dogg came out to the Oh You Didn’t know music. He did the whole spiel, except he didn’t request that I call somebody. The match itself was weak because Road Dogg didn’t seem to want to take anything but shoulder blocks, head locks, and arm wringers. Match ended when Fannin and the ropes helped hold Road Dogg down for the pin. There was after match mic work and setting up for a tag match for the next night with Road Dogg & Trik Davis vs. Boz & Fannin.
Intermission. Actually this was before the show, but I’ll tell you here. They moved merchandise left and right, and they sold out of last month’s show within 5-10 minutes of opening the doors.
MATCH 5: Lacey won an unbelievably excellent 6-woman elimination match against Rain, One Dirty Bitch (ODB), MsChif, Mickey Knuckles and Daizee Haze: Last month Ian went off about how in IWA the ladies aren’t about T&A and they can really wrestle. They proved it in this one (although they are still T&A since Lacey and Rain are FINE) at The RCW show there was Lacey & Daizee as faces going against Rain & ODB as heels. Well the match in IWA was ODB, Mickey, & Daizee as the faces; and Lacey, Rain, & MsChif as heels. Lacey and Rain worked together, as they are a regular tag team in IWA. MsChif was working as the gothic loner, and all three faces worked together. If there was a weak link in this awesome match it’d have to be Daizee, but there was a little she did wrong. This was ODB and MsChif’s first IWA Highland appearance. All the ladies were there working snug, and MsChif impressed greatly. Garnering Bullshit chants when she was eliminated. Final two were Lacey and Rain. Neither wanted to fight the other so Lacey went for the I’ll lie down and let you pin me, but you’re an idiot and shouldn’t have trusted me roll up. Even though they’ve wrestled each other many many times before they still finished up with a great match. All 6 ladies came out to a constant standing ovation from the crowd. Prazak came on the mic and praised ladies wrestling (he’s been actively working to build up ladies wrestling) they all then took a final bow. Oh I almost forgot to mention not only does MsChif rule in the ring, two words: GREEN MIST!!!!
MATCH 6: Arik Cannon beat Ian Rotten: This was the perfect example of hardcore wrestling, as it should be. This was stiff solid and hard hitting, and didn’t involve garbage. After the match the crowd asked Ian to get on the mic. You could tell he didn’t really want to, because he got a lot of heat for talking too much and taking heat off his wrestlers. He put over Arik Cannon, and pretty much let it known, that since Hero isn’t in IWA, Ian is looking for Cannon to take over the role of technical wrestling superstar for the company.
MATCH 7: Steve Stone beat Zach Gowen: Zach Gowen is still working the heel persona to perfection. His I’ve been on TV, I’m the reason you came spiel is working perfectly. Stone basically brought his powerful striking offense and defeated Zach. My personal favorite spot in the match was after Stone destroyed him with a lariat early in the match, he then took the leg off tossed it towards him and begged off by saying “I only have one leg” then lured Steve in and got him down. Zach then stood up, put the leg back on, cupped his ears Hogan style, and then he dropped the big prosthetic leg on Stonie.
MATCH 8: Light-heavyweight champ Matt Sydal successfully defended against Delirious in a best-of-three match. The usual great match from these two. Delirious repeated the Mr. Belvedere spot. These two are good because they actually have a story in their matches to go with the highspots. They fit the story, especially with the wackiness that Delirious brings to the table.
Another intermission. It’s already midnight and there are two matches to go. So even though there are still lines at gimmick tables and concession stand, they start going.
MATCH 9: IWA champion Jerry Lynn successfully defended against Danny Daniels (with Jim Fannin). Colt Cabana was the guest ref. This is Danny’s only rematch against Jerry Lynn: Colt gets the mic beforehand and lets everyone know that ROH is his home. He lets everyone know he’ll be at the 3/13 show. He then states that he’s only reffing this match because Jim Fannin wanted him to, and that he’ll call it right down the middle (wink, wink.) Once again the main event of an IWA show isn’t as good as most of the matches on the show. Although I admittedly am not a fan of Jerry Lynn, so that probably didn’t help the match. Colt was hysterical as the ref. And it was a good match; it just didn’t stand up to the rest of the card. The finish involved Colt finally getting sick of Fannin getting on the apron and he went to push him off. Shenanigans occurred and all in all Jerry got the clean pin, and Fannin was pissed that Colt didn’t (wink wink) follow the deal.
MATCH 10: Spyder Nate Webb beat JC Bailey in a Texas Death Match. After this match they can not wrestle again for one year: This was the usual shenanigans between these two. Once again they did the sloppy chair throwing that had sides of chairs hitting each other at high velocity. There was barbed wire. There was a sick spot with JC Bailey in the Stinkface/Bboy face wash position and Spyder did a cross body at his head where Spyder landed on the floor and the back of JC’s head got sliced on the metal that holds the turnbuckle. JC got taped to the ropes and asked, “What did the five toes say to the face?” He then proceeded to hit three of the stiffest spinning toe kicks to JC’s head I’ve seen. They took it to the crowd and brought out the fork slicings. Spyder got $7 stapled to him, including his nose. JC got his tongue stapled as well. Spider tried to send JC through the announce table 3 times unsuccessfully. Eventually Spyder finally got the win. He finally beat JC after he had been chasing the win for months. After the match they shook hands and hugged, then JC attacked again and left Spyder lying. JC left saying it’s not over. Prazak then said it is over. Spyder and JC both started pleading that they get to wrestle each other again. Ian gets called out and they plead to him. Ian then goes on to talk about how he needs to keep some wrestlers and if these two keep killing themselves, he won’t have any wrestlers left since Hero left him. They keep pleading and Ian has to play the dick role to say not for one year. Ian then says to Spyder that he knows Nate is always asking Prazak “If Ian likes me?” Ian then lets him know he loves him and wants him to be able to keep wrestling and this is for both of their own good. If after the year is up they still want to wrestle then they can. It’s all over and finished and the show is over. Then Nate gets the mic and surprises every one (Prazak and Ian included) by letting everyone know that it was his 5th anniversary of his first match and he’s happy it went down like that. Then they hit his music and he dances with Ian a bit, and everyone’s all smiley and happy to go home.
The 40.9 miles to go home concludes the around 250 miles driven for 8+ hours of wrestling. I left about 10am and got home around 1:45am for a full day of driving and wrestling. I had lost my voice after the first show, and kept on yelling throughout the second. It was a fun day. I like wrestling.

Well Bobby Heenan won't be there either

With all the stuff going on about the RF thing, I should have lots to talk about but I'm just going to limit it to stuff that affects my show. This makes me sad, but it also just clinched my decision to go see Bobby Heenan on 03/20. (which is quite convienent because a worker I need to give 28 tapes to, is on that show)

"As the midwest promoter for Ring Of Honor, I can assure you that both dates in both St Paul and Chicago are on.
On a related note, due to the course of events this week, Bobby Heenan has cancelled himself from both dates. I'm sure that ROH will make the official announcement soon regarding Bobby's cancellation. I just thought I would let MY FANS know first.

As of today, I physically do not have tickets for the Chicago ROH event. When I do, I will make that announcement on the board.

Thank you,
Carmine DeSpirito"

Well there goes that

Well apparently the show goes on.

So...uhhhhh....yeah

So I have tickets to the 04/24/04 show by the company owned (and formerly operated, until said situation) by the man being talked about here: DVDVR

Yeah, the tickets were purchased before this went down, but who knows what will happen to a)performers b)the venue c)the company itself.

Am I selfish for thinking that?

Am I selfish for wondering if it doesn't happen, will I be refunded?

Nonetheless I've been glued to that thread for a day and a half now.

Hi I did nothing.

I'll just point out now, that for the length of time this burgeoning blog is in it's beginning days as a journal-style blog, I won't always post. If I don't discuss a day in here it'll usually be an average weekday consisting of:

Snoozed a long time before finally leaving the bed.
Worked all day
Came home from work.
putzed around doing a)Tv/tape watching b)putzing around online c)doing errands d)any combination of the thereabove.

So with that sorted out here is what I did yesterday:
Snoozed a long time before finally leaving the bed.
Worked all day
Came home from work.
putzed around with Sara watching Queer Eye and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
We ordered a pizza and I wasn't aware that the outdoor phone system for the building isn't working, so our pizza guy stood outside the building for 20 minutes until someone else from the building came home, and let him in.

So instead of enthusing you with such excitement as that, just assume that nothing worth noting must have happened.

The weekend as it were, as it was, and the such

Friday left work early to go have Tapas with Sara's sister and roommate and some friends before going to see Sara's production of The Picnic. Very well done considering extremely limited budget and they were highschool kids. Afterwards Sara and I went for a drink at the Duece. Then watched Alex & Emma from Netflix.

Saturday, lounged around all day and watched some of the wrestling clips, DVDs, matches I've been downloading lately. I've got lots of good stuff. With about 15 gigs of wrestling sitting on my hard drive combined with over a hundred VHS tapes sitting in my living room unwatched, I think I don't ever have to worry about not having something to watch ever. Then again to the play and this time afterwards (after going to Dave's Italian Kitchen for a bite to eat, as is tradition for cast & crew after the last show of a Roycemore play) we went out with Dina, their old friend Heather that recently came back into town, and that gal's brother to Nevins and had quite a few drinks WOOHOO.

Sunday, finally went to Cafe Laundry Laundry Laundry. (AKA Her brother's house, he has the fanciest washer and dryer ever, and said we can come use it whenever) After partaking in the bagels we brought over they took off though because they had plans. We knew this though so we brought over 24 Hour Party People and Comedian that I got from Netflix. So we did laundry and watched movies all day. Oscars were partaken in as well, apart from the middle section of the show when we drove back to my place and got some Dairy Queen. Blah blah LOTR Blah Blah. I personally would like to applaud Tim Robbins. I think personally he's a pile of garbage, but when he won his BSA award he made no political barbs, which is quite shocking since that is his MO. Unfortunately I can't say the same for fellow Hollywood Liberal shithead Sean Penn. It's not so much that I hate what he had to say, it's just I hate people using their little bit of time to make snide shitty political remarks. If you would like to state your stance on it, I'm totally fine with that, just "Hey I'm better than you, ignorant troll" backhanded comments just because you have TV time with lots of people watching really irk me. Thank your Mom, your Dad, your plastic surgeon and lets move right on to the next boring speech. Also Before I start to sound like your standard Conservative God Fearing Right Wing Gun Toting War Loving Get a Haircut Hippie Asshole, I'd just like to remind you, didn't Alec Baldwin say something about moving out of the US if Bush became president (#4 Here), back during the ballotting situation. Nice to see you kept your word on that, douche.
